The Local Area
Whilst the gîte has a peaceful rural setting with lovely open views it is less than 10 minutes drive from the historic 13th Century market town of St. Antonin Noble Val, with its shops, restaurants, cinema and thriving Sunday market. The town is sheltered below the stunning white cliffs of the Averyron Gorge and was the setting for the films “Charlotte Grey” and "The Hundred Foot Journey".
Tarn et Garonne is a particularly beautiful and unspoiled area of France. We toured many regions before settling here and find it less ‘touristy’ and more picturesque than better-known departments such as Provence and Dordogne.
As the countryside is relatively unspoiled there is an abundance of wildlife, hoopoes, eagle owls, exotic lizards, pine martens, salamanders, golden orioles, (often heard but difficult to spot), deer, badgers and even wild boar.
